Photos from Sagrada Familia – Barcelona

Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia – Barcelona

Last week I was in Barcelona, Spain on business and although I had a miserable head cold, I did have tickets to visit Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s unfinished masterwork. I forced myself out with camera and gear in tow and grabbed a bunch of shots. Two of them are here … and I need to go back and work on some of the others when I get more time.

While construction of Sagrada Familia began in 1882 under a different architect, Gaudi became involved with Sagrada Familia in 1883 through his death in 1926. At the time of his death, the project was only 25% completed. A few wars, and other issues have caused delays, and with luck the entire project may be completed in my lifetime.

While not complete, it is already an UNESCO World Heritage site, it was also consecrated as a Minor Basilica by Pope Benedict in 2010.

The photos above were taken with my Nikon D610 and a Sigma 15mm fish-eye lens. Each image is created from three bracketed exposures and merged into a single image and hand ‘painted’ using AuroraHDR and On1 Photo Raw.

I wish I wasn’t sick so I would have had more patience and time … and really wish it was sunny outside for more light play with the windows. At least I know I will be back in October 🙂
