The True Grand Budapest Hotel

Grand Budapest Hotel

So, I haven’t done this type of post yet, but there is a first time for everything. Last week I was in Budapest for business, and because of a music festival in town, my normal hotel was booked out, and I stayed at the Hilton Budapest Castle Hotel — and it truly was a Grand hotel! From the moment I arrived until they helped me into my car service to the airport, it was an extreme pleasure to stay there. The staff, especially the staff in the Hilton HHonors‘ (no that’s not a typo) executive lounge, were amazing – made the stay so much easier and gave great suggestions and information.

The hotel is located in the Castle Hill district, next to St. Matthias’ Church, with great views across the Danube of the Hungarian Parliament building and the river front on the Pest side. Its also in walking distance of a couple of great restaurants, and some great museums. I hope to have more time next trip to wander more, although I did get some great photos this trip 🙂

So … would I stay here again? Absolutely! Even with the extra travel time and necessity of getting a taxi to/from my office, the fantastic location, amazing staff and did I mention the location (?!?) more than make up for the minor inconvenience … my only gripe is that I will try my best to avoid Budapest in August – OMG it was HOT

As for that other Grand Budapest Hotel:
