Lake Wakatipu is on New Zealand’s south island, near Queenstown, and is simply gorgeous to visit and photograph. I have the luck of going there every couple years for work, and never skip a chance to visit Queenstown, and the surrounding area.
In this image you can see three of the trees that dot the shoreline of the lake, seemingly growing out of the cold waters of Lake Wakatipu. For the record, this is no small fishing lake. It is about 50 miles long and over 700 feet deep. If Nessie needed a vacation home it would more than do!
In the background is The Remarkables mountain range, going up 7600 feet above sea level and its snowcaps. This range has some amazing skiing trails! On my next trip I am planning on a helicopter ride to the mountains for more photos if all goes well.
The gallery image is printed on 8×10 Polar Gloss Metallic paper and is $75 at the event.
