Francis E. Walter Dam

This morning, I got up and headed out to shoot some video and get some more flight time on the Phantom. Most of the parks nearby had activities going on, so I headed out to a quiet spot I ride my motorcycle to now and then for some ‘down time’ – Francis E. Walter Dam. The dam is an 1800 acre Army Corp of Engineers project with an 80 acre lake, fishing and boat launch.

I didn’t take too many photos, the wind started to kick up and I didn’t want to take a chance of my drone crashing into the lake, suddenly becoming a whale … er… submarine, so after hanging out a bit, chatting with a couple guys fishing about the UAV, I hung out and watched a couple people kayaking on the lake and finished my coffee.

I haven’t really done a lot of video, I own Adobe Premier CC, but have never used it, and iMovie… iMovie was simple enough so I stitched together a couple clips, added music from Tones on Tail (“Rain“) and viola!  No oscar awards here, but its simple enough for the clips I took.

I have a lot to learn … both flying/video as well as the applications to make it viewable… a challenge … something that excites me and gives me an excuse to learn something new 🙂
